One for our Canadian readers: a screen capture of an actual chat in the Veer office concerning a cheesy slice of Canadian TV history.
Settle down...
I'm more interested in Drew's appreciation of poetry than any canine...
Until tomorrow, the whole world is your own.
While you're at, e-mail me the theme from the Beachcombers.
Jonathan, grab it here.
Cool post.
Grant, that's hilarious! I wasn't expecting a response on that one. I live (and grew up) in Buffalo, just a stone's throw from the border, so my early TV watching days were filled with canadian classics like The Littlest Hobo, The Beachcombers, Tiny Talent Time, and Just Like Mom, and later shows like that one set in Vancouver aout the family of Marine Biologists (who had a pet seal) who also fought crime (well, I think it was more malfeasance than anything). What was that one called? Danger Bay? Ahhhh, good times.
Danger Bay, starring the gruff, yet cuddly Donnelly Rhodes. Never really got into Danger Bay, I actually grew up with the likes of The Forest Rangers, featuring an lithe Gordon Pinsent as R.C.M.P. Sgt. Brian Scott. How about Adventures in Rainbow Country, which starred none other than Lois 'Miss Moneypenny' Maxwell?
Getting back to the subject of The Littlest Hobo, I tracked down a copy of the theme music from the original 1963 series. Enjoy it, in all its sentimental lo-fi loveliness. For comparison, here's the upbeat 1979 theme that everyone here at Veer knows and loves.
Danger Bay was the best, probably because I was living on the West Coast when it was on. I get a little nostalgic everytime I'm out in Deep Cove and we pass the house they used for the series.
