VPS host machine (homie-vserver11) down for file system check.

Posted (March 30th, 2011 at 9:28 am PST) by Brandon

One of our host machines was displaying some possible file system issues and we’ve taken it down for a file system check. Typically this takes several hours to complete and any VPS guests running on this host machine will not be accessible until it has finished.

This list includes all affected VPS guests:

ps10676 ps10746 ps10888 ps11350 ps11628 ps11968 ps13207 ps18605 ps25805 ps26053 ps26059 ps26090 ps26358 ps26555 ps26926 ps27511 ps42821 ps42836 ps43622 ps43821 ps46234 ps46243 ps4625 ps46268 ps4627 ps46417 ps4650 ps4652 ps4654 ps46556 ps4664 ps4667 ps46691 ps4673 ps4676 ps46843 ps4814 ps4823 ps4830 ps4888 ps4897 ps4903 ps4905 ps4993 ps5049 ps5054 ps5059 ps5088 ps5093 ps5222 ps6158

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your continued patience.  We will update this post as soon as we have further information.

Update 12:38 PM PST: It looks like the FSCK ran into some problems along the way and had to be restarted. Unfortunately this means we’re now looking at 2-4 hours from this point forward until the VPS guests are back up and running.

Update 2:47 PM PST: The FSCK has completed and all VPS guests on this host machine are now back online. If you’re still having any issues related to this please contact our helpful tech support staff.

LYNX is also down…but not a private server?

I’m holding preproduction testing in ps42836. Could you be more specific about the downtime in terms of hours ? Less than 10 hours?

Thanks

My private server (ps47684) isn’t listed here but I can’t access it anymore. What the hell is going on?

No webmail?

REALLY need to know better status updates from you people. This is some of the worst customer support out there. Other, more reliable hosts are calling…

The dreamhost status tagline should be “What’s down” instead of “What’s up”.

Third significant down time in the last 2 weeks. This is starting to get old.

2-4 hours? Really? What are you running this on, a 386 with 32MB of RAM?!?

This is costing us money. We are not happy campers.

woot! mail seems to be working again! i just at 6:38 pm got a message i sent (& cc’ed to myself) at 7:30 am!!

No webmail??????????????? againnnnn

Webmail doesn’t work the whole day…

Hi again:

I followed all this indications now and in the past but I can see a
increased consume of resources just from 30-march… the same day DH do
this actions:
http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/2011/03/30/vps-host-machine-homie-vserver11-do
wn-for-file-system-check/

I can see all my resources consume are multiplicated X2 with the same use from
my part taking as reference my normal memory and cpu levels from other months…

Please check the server!

The next month probably I need X4 resources in memory and cpu than just
1 month ago with the same use!!!

I work all the day and I can see my site down, doing white pages or
directly don’t loads…

Thanks
